Newsletter: February 2020

Hi guys! It has been a while since my last blog post. A lot has happened in the last few weeks and it's going to affect my posting a bit.

First off, I am finally moving out of my uncle's house and joining an apartment dorm with my friends. I have been wanting to move out for quite a while now, so I am very happy that I have finally found a place to stay. The commute to work and university has shortened and I am sure it's going to be a fun experience.

Sadly we don't have a printer at the new apartment, which means I have no way to scan my pictures or sketches. This is kinda a bummer, but I am sure I can use the scanners at university. It does mean that the posting will be irregular, but that's nothing new with me. Haha. Most likely I'll scan a batch and schedule it on Patreon and other sites. Hopefully, it won't be so noticeable.

It also means that I'll have to work more in order to finance everything. So less time for comics and illustrations I am afraid. However, I am sure that I'll manage to post doodles or find time to sketch a bit. I am not sure how I'll manage with keeping up with the comic flow. It's just annoying that I can't keep up with a proper posting schedule. Then again, I am not a professional artist. I am doing this as a hobby so I try not to guilt myself too badly.

I think I've said all the important points for now. I'll try my best and hopefully, the move won't be so stressful. I am already packing everything like a squirrel hoarding their nuts. Oh geez! Hahaha.

Until the next little update from me! Stay safe everyone :D

Hi there

Hello everyone! My name is Ask and write/draw the webcomic Mistika.

I am a Maltese classical archaeologist, currently based in Germany, aiming to do my doctorate here as well. Even though I am a full-time student, with currently 3 jobs to keep me afloat, I also draw comics in my little free time. Drawing comics has been my go-to for quite a few years now, but I have never quite found a place in order to share my stories.

Previous webcomics of mine were Malta & co (now lost in the midst of time), The Shadow Man (a short comic also lost in time), Nero in da Domus (which I hope to continue one day) and the short-lived The Excavation (also aiming to bring it back in the future). Mistika has been on my to-do list since 2014, continuously evolving. It started with just one character, Mathias, back then and now it's a whole town with different stories and insights waiting to be told. I am very excited to share these stories with you all.

The schedule will hopefully be that I'll update on Wednesdays, once I have a chapter batch ready. Sadly I cannot promise that it will be weekly or regularly, due to studies and work. If you want to support me or read the comic once the pages are done, you can support my work over on Patreon, where you can also view my doodles, illustrations, and WIPs. Very cool. You can also follow me on Twitter if you like seeing bad work photos of my WIPs or retweets of some lovely art I find.

Thank you for taking the time to read this blog and I hope you'll enjoy the comic.
Best wishes!
